Pretoria has never just been a location on the map. It has always been a source of rhythm, language and identity. On 13 December, Spotify brings Wrapped 2025 to the city with PITORI, an experience built around the streets, stories and sounds that shaped national culture long before the rest of the country caught on.
Hosted at 012 Central, PITORI spreads across three stages, each rooted in a different Pretorian community. The journey stretches from Limpopo to the capital, tracing the rise of Lekompo that travelled from the North, Bacardi that was born in the yards, and the blend of Pitori Rap, early Amapiano, Hip Hop, Afro Soul and Spoken Word that grew in taxis, campuses and neighbourhood corners. These movements cultivated the sound of South Africa long before global playlists took notice.
The lineup stays true to that ecosystem. Expect performances from Pabi Cooper, Mellow and Sleazy, Venom and Banques, Janesh, Sia the Bee, Junior Taurus, Makhadzi, MaWhoo, CIZA, JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela, Darwin Rev and The Black Labone House Band, among others. The dedicated HypeNation community stage gives Pitori Rap, Hip Hop, Drill and Trap a space of its own, filled with cyphers and DJs switching between trap, drill and local edits. Alongside it, the Campus Stage and Black Labone Stage celebrate the creative hubs that built the city’s artistic identity.
Beyond the music, PITORI creates a full world inspired by capital city culture. Spaza influenced installations, trophy stations, a secret discovery room and food from Pretoria favourites Uncle Faouzis and Barcode set the tone. Every detail reads like a love letter to the city’s slang, fashion, dance, food and the communities that live and breathe these sounds daily.
Wrapped Pitori takes Spotify Wrapped off the app and places it back in the hands of the people who built the culture. It is a reminder that behind the numbers are real neighbourhoods, real artists and real stories. It is not just a report. It is a movement going from Pitori to Lefatshe.
Free tickets are available at wrappedpitori dot co dot za on a first come first served basis, with releases happening in batches. Follow SpotifyAfrica on Instagram for updates.
Spotify has also partnered with Uber to make travel seamless for attendees. A special discount code will be available for rides to and from 012 Central, keeping the journey convenient and affordable from start to finish.
