Yo Familia I’m back again this time we’re running the clock back with POP , the segment where we scour the gram for talents, people and movements we feel need a spotlight, this weekI knew for our return I had to go and find a wild gem and I’m glad I did, for our first POP in 3 months, we’re covering @alibate.makes .
He is a multidisciplinary creative, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, not only excelling at visually bringing ideas to life but making them physically come alive from sculptures to animation and way more, he’s an all-round madman and I love every piece of his work. He’s worked with the likes of Shelflife and Adidas South Africa, showcasing his talent with some of the countries most trusted and recognisable platforms!
I discovered his page earlier this year, where I saw a range of different figurines from local talent like Maglera to International modern day legends like Freddie Gibbs and Mac Miller. He’s managed to capture culture in such a cool and unique way and I definitely feel he needs the attention for it. Recently I saw his Air Jordan four cement planter for his Shelflife collab and their release of the “White Cement”, and for me it was set in stone, I had to document him since it was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve seen from South Ahh and it’s genuinely something I really wish I had in my house.

What I really appreciate about his work is the fact that the quality is not just insanely crazy but it’s refreshing in the sense that I’m not really seeing anybody or let alone a handful of people do exactly what he’s doing, at this level.
When you scroll down his page you’ll be met with an arrange of things from animation, paintings, graphic design work and most famously his sculptures, just showing the endless versatility and talent he holds as a creative. Having been in the game for quite awhile with posts dating back to 2018 it’s safe to say he’s really been apart of the culture and continuously raises the bar in the means to document it, with his heavy love and appreciation for hip-hop culture, skateboarding culture and sneaker culture I was able to relate and really connect with his work, understand that he really and truly is “A maker of things”, bound by nothing.
