Yo Familia! We’re back again, this time with our fourth selection of our picks of the year highlighting some of our favourite people and moments throughout the year
Conceptual photographer of the year – @mishaalganjaz
I think it’s safe to say that Mishaal didn’t just have a successful year as a conceptual photographer but for the past few years he’s come to really establish himself as THE person to go to for conceptual shoots across the industry and upon across the country, he’s been apart of soo many cool projects and ideas turned to life, his portfolio of work over the year ranges from working with Uncle Waffles for her DJ Mag cover, working with Daliwonga for his partnership with Diesel and Blxckie, Musa Keys and whole book worth musicians also pushing the culture. He’s cemented himself as an integral part of culture through his creative direction and execution mainly for the fact that he’s been able to push exciting ideas and concepts with the music industry through every shoot
Music Video of the year – Internet Girl “Pull Up”
For the Music Video of the year, there was really no other option the Pull Up music video is for me the best music video I’ve seen come out of SA what the team for this music video is genuinely mind blowing to say the least, I truly think it’s one of those videos that will serve as a time stamp in the culture to look back at. I’ve never seen a black and white shots done so cool, it’s really going to be a major reference for broers coming into the game!
Commercial photographer of the year – @zed.armani
For our commercial photographer of the year Zed has been one of the most consistent Kwality photographers to really pop out in the game, from working with multiple media pages, documenting unforgettable nights to his contribution in culture working with local brands like Balatron, Brthrhood and Padral, he’s been the gift that keeps on giving, and when you even just start to think about what this broer did on the conceptual front too, it’s really been scary hours this ‘24, can only imagine what this next year holds.
Videograpgher of the year – @southmadeit_
After discovering him earlier this year after his campaign with The Saints, I just knew we were in for one hell of a run, after working with the likes of Blxckie, Zoocci Coke Dope, Kindlynxsh and Rati$upremacy (one of the videos of the year btw). He’s brought one of the cleanest runs we’ve seen by a videographer in a awhile, and the consistency of quality in what he’s put out has only added to it
