The play button: Studio Bananaaa x Pantone Sundays

Yo familia! For this week’s “the play button” we decided to look at a body of work which really touched our hearts and we hope it’ll do the same for you.

After coming across this beautiful piece last night, I knew it was an absolute no brainier choice for this week’s play button, the main highlights of this piece being how personal it is and its emphasis on simplicity

From just the shot selection, they were able to grasp the attention throughout the video with a klean mix and range of close up, wide and shots all while incorporating a seamless zooming in and out camera movement, it shows how you don’t have to do too much to grab one’s attention for the duration of the video, just make the scene diverse with shots so your composition isn’t stuck to a singular shot, and what strengthened the video was that crisp and clear sound design, sound of the typewriter was able to add depth behind the clean and personal dialogue. I really appreciate this dialogue too, giving an ode to a loved one and the creator being able to look back at his journey and the people beside him that made his dream come to life is honestly and truly beautiful, there’s no faking, there’s no frauding just intimacy that speaks to the theme of writing a love letter to a loved one. I’m also a fan of the little detail in colour coordination the subject and how it plays into the background of the scenery. What made me choose this fashion film for our play button this week is because I truly feel this piece is a great source of reference for brands to communicate honest and intimate messages through video without doing too much.
